Getting to Bruges

Arriving gently, without hurry.

Bruges is easy to reach, and we would love this page to help the practical side of the journey feel simple. Whether you are coming by train, car, or plane, the idea is the same: arrive with enough ease that the day can begin calmly.

Coming by train

For many guests, the train will be the simplest option. Bruges station is well connected to Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp, and other Belgian cities, and from there the centre is quite manageable by taxi, bus, or on foot depending on where you are staying.

  • Bruges station is the main arrival point for the city.
  • If you are staying in the centre, allow a little time for the final part of the journey.
  • On the day itself, comfortable shoes are a good idea, as Bruges is beautiful but often cobbled.

Coming by car

If you are travelling by car, we recommend arriving a little earlier than you think you need, especially if you plan to park near the historic centre. Bruges is welcoming, but the older streets reward a calm approach more than a rushed one.

  • Check your parking choice in advance if you wish to stay close to the centre.
  • Some parts of the old city are easier to access on foot than by car.
  • If you are staying overnight, your hotel may have the most convenient parking advice.

Coming by plane

If you are arriving from abroad, Brussels Airport is usually the most straightforward option. From there, Bruges can be reached by train or by car transfer, depending on what feels easiest for you.

If several guests are arriving around the same time, it may make sense to coordinate travel and share part of the journey.

Addresses for the day

  • Begijnhof, Bruges — spiritual ceremony.
  • Bruges City Hall — official ceremony.

Before you travel

We will keep refining this page with any details that may help, especially if there are useful notes about parking, walking times, or the easiest sequence between the different locations of the day.
